MLM Goal Setting

[ 0 ] October 28, 2009 |

Do you have the knowledge it takes to set goals the right way? Not everyone’s brain works the same way, but if you follow a specific formula like the one below, you can make your goals every single time. And in all honesty, it’s really about the type of goal you set.

There is a term known as SMART. It’s an acronym that contains five specific requirements in order to make your goals every single time: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time bound = SMART.

For most of us, without those five qualities, we’ll never succeed at our goals. But if we use the SMART method, we can achieve our goals and our dreams of financial success.

Specific– Your goal needs to be as specific as possible. If your goal isn’t specific, you won’t know where you are on your journey.  Instead of telling yourself that you want a new home, try telling yourself that you want a log cabin home with a wraparound porch. When you can picture exactly what you want to achieve, your goal will be defined more clearly and you’ll be able to increase your chances of getting what you want.

Measurable– Your goal needs to be measurable. You can’t just say you want to make a lot of money. It needs to be measurable by choosing a number. Once you’ve done that you’ll be able to keep track of your success and know how you are doing and what you need to do to continue to achieve that goal.

Attainable– Your goal needs to be attainable. You can’t create a goal that is so crazy that you know you will never reach it. If you want to make $20,000 a month in residual income in a month, you are going to have to lower that goal to something a little more realistic unless you want to fail. And if you know that your goal is a bit ridiculous, then chances are you won’t have the desire or drive to achieve that goal. I mean who would be inspired by a goal that’s overwhelming and doesn’t cause any action?

Relevant– Your goal has to be relevant. If you’re not as passionate as you should be about your goal you need to find another goal. If you’re choosing a goal that means nothing then you won’t want to achieve it, but if you pick a goal that you’re passionate about no matter what it may be, the possibilities of obtaining that goal are virtually unlimited!

Time Bound– Your goal has to be time bound. When your goal is time bound it means you’ll be far more capable of making your goals and dreams a reality. What’s the point in trying to accomplish something if you don’t have some sort of deadline? In reality without a deadline, a goal is still only a dream.

Practically every one of us has some sort of dream about earning more money. When you set goals for your business, you can accomplish those dreams. So when you decide what you want to achieve with your business, remember that the five qualities will help you achieve those business goals if you take the time to use them.
